Yohance A. Pettis, born in San Diego, California and raised in Plantation, Florida, is a graduate of the University of Florida (B.A. in Criminology, 2000) and the University of Florida Levin College of Law (J.D., 2004). He previously worked for Haliczer, Pettis & Schwamm as a law clerk for three years before joining the firm as an associate.

Mr. Pettis became entrenched in public service during his undergraduate years. He had the privilege of serving as President of the Omicron Zeta Chapter of the Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc., Vice-President of the University of Florida Branch of the NAACP, and Vice-President of the University of Florida Branch of the National Pan-Hellenic Council. His leadership abilities were recognized and further enhanced when he became inducted into Florida Blue Key Honor Fraternity and Savant UF Leadership Honorary Society. During his years in law school, Mr. Pettis continued to serve the community-at-large, as well as focus on his legal career. He served as President of the Levin College of Law Trial Team, where he, along with his colleagues, won several state and national competitions. Mr. Pettis was awarded the Gerald T. Bennett Outstanding Service Award two years in a row and was also selected to the Order of the Barristers. His law school career culminated when he was selected by his peers to be the Levin College of Law graduation class speaker.

Mr. Pettis’ professional affiliations include Phi Alpha Delta Law Fraternity, the American Bar Association and the Broward County Bar Association. He also is a member of the T.J. Reddick Bar Association, where he serves on the Board of Directors.
